An IP address (Internet Protocol address) is a numerical address assigned to a device on a network so that it can be identified and communicate with other devices.
IP addresses can be static or dynamic and can be used within private networks or across the public internet. Routers use IP addresses to identify devices, direct network traffic and manage connections.
