A dual band router is a wireless router that broadcasts Wi-Fi signals on two separate frequency bands simultaneously: 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. The 2.4 GHz band offers wider coverage and better wall penetration but slower speeds, while the 5 GHz band provides faster speeds with shorter range.

This allows users to connect different devices to the most appropriate band based on their needs—streaming devices and gaming consoles typically perform better on 5 GHz, while IoT devices and those farther from the router work well on 2.4 GHz.
